Residential Subdivision and Biodiversity Offset
Raptor Environmental had the opportunity to work on this Project from inception, starting in the planning phase in 2022. What began as a chicken farm, residential housing and grazed paddocks in a suburban area, often the subject of community complaints, is on track to deliver a diligently planned development that balances growth with nature positive outcomes.
Key deliverables included an Ecological Assessment Report, Concept Rehabilitation Plan, Tree Retention Plan and Offset Delivery Strategy as part of the Development Application. Raptor Environmental prepared the operational environmental management documentation, including the Rehabilitation Plan, Vegetation Management Plan and Offset Delivery Plan and all necessary environmental permits and approvals.
The development avoids impacting biodiversity values and focuses on restoration within the southern portion of the site, which forms a habitat node along an important ecological corridor. This area serves as a dedicated environmental offset, supporting the protection and enhancement of local ecological values which will be handed over to Council following implementation. The offset aims to recreate vegetation communities and habitats which are Commonwealth listed threatened ecological communities which were once prevalent throughout the region. This Project is an example of considered design supporting the region's housing needs and positive biodiversity outcomes.
